Relational fuzzy clustering has been developed for extracting intrinsic cluster structures of relational data and was extended to\r\na linear fuzzy clustering model based on Fuzzy c-Medoids (FCMdd) concept, in which Fuzzy c-Means-(FCM-) like iterative\r\nalgorithm was performed by defining linear cluster prototypes using two representative medoids for each line prototype. In this\r\npaper, the FCMdd-type linear clustering model is further modified in order to handle incomplete data including missing values,\r\nand the applicability of several imputation methods is compared. In several numerical experiments, it is demonstrated that some\r\npre-imputation strategies contribute to properly selecting representative medoids of each cluster....
Dynamic magnetic resonance images (DMRIs) are one of the major tools for diagnosing nasal tumors in recent years. The purpose\r\nof this research is to propose a new method to be able to automatically detect tumor region and compare three classifiers� tumor\r\ndetection performance for DMRI. These three classifiers are AdaBoost, SVM, and Bayes-Gaussian classifier. Three measurable\r\nmetrics, sensitivity, specificity, accuracy values, match percent, and correspondence ratio, are used for evaluation of each specific\r\nclassifiers. The experimental results show that SVM has the best sensitivity value, and Bayesian classifier has the best specificity\r\nand accuracy values. Moreover, the detected tumor regions that are marked with red color are shown by using each of these three\r\nclassifiers....
This paper is dealing with the fuzzy clustering method which combines the deterministic annealing (DA) approach with an entropy,\r\nespecially the Shannon entropy and the Tsallis entropy. By maximizing the Shannon entropy, the fuzzy entropy, or the Tsallis\r\nentropy within the framework of the fuzzy c-means (FCM) method, membership functions similar to the statistical mechanical\r\ndistribution functions are obtained. We examine characteristics of these entropy-based membership functions from the statistical\r\nmechanical point of view. After that, both the Shannon- and Tsallis-entropy-based FCMs are formulated as DA clustering using\r\nthe very fast annealing (VFA) method as a cooling schedule. Experimental results indicate that the Tsallis-entropy-based FCM is\r\nstable with very fast deterministic annealing and suitable for this annealing process....
This paper investigates the use of genetic algorithms (GA) in the design and implementation of fuzzy logic controllers (FLC)\r\nfor incubating egg. What is the best to determine the membership function is the first question that has been tackled. Thus it is\r\nimportant to select the accurate membership functions, but these methods possess one common weakness where conventional\r\nFLC use membership function generated by human operators. The membership function selection process is done with trial and\r\nerror, and it runs step by step which takes too long in solving the problem. This paper develops a system that may help users to\r\ndetermine the membership function of FLC using the GA optimization for the fastest processing in solving the problems. The\r\ndata collection is based on the simulation results, and the results refer to the transient response specification which is maximum\r\novershoot. From the results presented, we will get a better and exact result; the value of overshot is decreasing from 1.2800 for FLC\r\nwithout GA to 1.0081 with GA (FGA)....
The measures operation is an important component of borehole operation, and the operation effects directly affect the increase\r\nof oil and gas production. In perspective of the present reality of borehole operation company, the authors analyze the commonly\r\nused type of measures on the oil field, summarize six indicators to evaluate the measures operation effect, and give the quantitative\r\ncalculation method for six evaluation indicators. Through the experts grading method, we can obtain all the weights of indicators\r\nand then establish the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model of operation effect of measures. The evaluation model can be used\r\nto evaluate the operation effect of single well, oil block, or the branch company. Based on the actual data of measures operation of\r\na branch company, using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation approach to evaluate each block in the branch company, this paper\r\nobtained the same conclusion as the qualitative analysis....
